Imagining a top-less, nice printing press. With something like a plan.
The ‘plan’ is eavily inspired by the reading of this thread at briarpress and by the ‘linking mechanism’ used by Lee Reloading Press cited by winking cat press. In that mechanism when you move the lever the leverage ratio becomes bigger and bigger (theretically reaching infinite when the short arm reaches zero), then you have the maximum effect exactly when you need.
My idea is that one can build a ‘reversed’ press to:
- having a nice top-less press
- avoid other mechanism: maybe the press would relax by itself without springs etc.
- ergonomic reasons?
And, now, this is my picture:
When you push the lever downward, the link mechanism will push the bed against the paper (and everything will be pushed against the solid top, part of the stucture of the press.)
Well, this is in theory, now, after a break, I will try to find the weakness of the whole thing, and to figure out how to build it.
